A Solid Pear Wood Business Card: A Statement in Itself
A business card is more than just a scrap of paper—it’s a first impression, an introduction, and for a true craftsman, a testament to their skill. So when guitar maker and restorer Peter de Smet came to me looking for something truly special, I knew this wouldn’t be an ordinary job. He wanted his work’s exclusivity and artistry to be instantly tangible—a challenge I was more than happy to take on.
We started experimenting: different designs, materials, and techniques all made their way through the workshop. Laser engraving quickly proved to be the perfect method for rendering his logo and details with razor-sharp precision. But finding the right material? That took a little more searching. Until the luthier himself came up with a brilliant idea—pear wood. And not just any pear wood, but wood he had personally hand-planed to the perfect thickness.
The result: Business cards as refined and unique as the instruments he builds. The natural warmth of the wood, combined with the laser’s precision, creates a card that doesn’t just share a name and number—it tells a story. A true craftsman, with business cards cut from the very same wood as his instruments.
